Master Bedroom Feng Shui: 7 Things You Should Never Place in Your Room
Share
Your master bedroom is the most energetically sensitive space in your home. It is where you rest, restore, and recharge — and according to feng shui, it is also where your personal energy is most vulnerable. The wrong objects in the wrong places can silently drain your vitality, disturb your sleep, and block the flow of wealth and love into your life.
Here are 7 feng shui taboos for the master bedroom that you should know about — and what to do instead.
1. Never Place a Mirror Facing the Bed
This is one of the most well-known feng shui taboos — and one of the most commonly broken. A mirror facing the bed is believed to invite a third party into the relationship, disturb sleep by reflecting and amplifying energy throughout the night, and create a sense of unease or restlessness.
What to do instead: Position mirrors on the inside of wardrobe doors, or on a wall that does not directly face the bed. If you cannot move the mirror, cover it at night with a cloth or curtain.
2. Never Store Items Under the Bed
In feng shui, the space under your bed needs to be clear for energy to circulate freely around you while you sleep. Storing boxes, luggage, old clothes, or especially sharp objects under the bed creates energetic blockages that can manifest as restless sleep, anxiety, or stagnation in life.
What to do instead: Keep the space under your bed completely empty. If storage is unavoidable, use only soft items like extra bedding — never sharp, heavy, or emotionally charged objects.
3. Never Place the Bed Against a Shared Bathroom Wall
Water drains energy in feng shui. Sleeping with your head against a wall shared with a bathroom means your personal energy is being slowly pulled toward the draining water energy on the other side. This can lead to fatigue, health issues, and a general feeling of depletion.
What to do instead: Reposition the bed so the headboard is against a solid, unshared wall. If this is not possible, place a protective crystal such as black obsidian between the headboard and the wall to absorb and neutralize the draining energy.
4. Never Keep Work Items in the Bedroom
Laptops, work files, exercise equipment — anything associated with activity, stress, or mental stimulation has no place in the bedroom. These objects carry active, Yang energy that conflicts with the restful, Yin energy the bedroom needs to support deep sleep and intimate connection.
What to do instead: Create a clear boundary between your work life and your rest space. If your bedroom doubles as a home office, use a room divider or curtain to visually separate the two zones, and always close the laptop before sleep.
5. Never Place Sharp or Pointed Objects Aimed at the Bed
Sharp corners, pointed decorations, or furniture with aggressive angles directed toward the bed create what feng shui calls “Sha Qi” — cutting or attacking energy. Over time, this can contribute to headaches, irritability, relationship tension, and poor health.
What to do instead: Soften sharp corners with plants, fabric, or rounded decorative objects. Choose bedroom furniture with curved or rounded edges where possible.
6. Never Display Images of Solitude or Sadness
The artwork and images in your bedroom directly influence your emotional and relational energy. Single figures, lonely landscapes, or images with dark or melancholic themes reinforce those energies in your life — particularly in matters of love and partnership.
What to do instead: Display images that evoke warmth, connection, and joy. Pairs of objects, images of nature in bloom, or meaningful symbols of love and abundance are all excellent choices for the bedroom.
7. Never Leave Broken or Gifted Items from Past Relationships
Objects carry the energy of their history. Gifts from ex-partners, broken jewelry, or items associated with painful memories hold that energy in your space — and in your life. This is especially true in the bedroom, where your energy field is most open and receptive.
What to do instead: Clear these items out completely. Replace them with objects that carry positive, intentional energy — such as a Pixiu bracelet placed on your nightstand to attract new abundance, or a piece of jade to invite harmony and healing.
Protect Your Bedroom Energy
Your bedroom should be a sanctuary — a space that actively supports your health, relationships, and prosperity. Small, intentional changes to what you place (and what you remove) from this space can create a profound shift in how you feel and what you attract.
One of the simplest and most powerful ways to protect your personal energy is to keep a black obsidian Pixiu bracelet on your nightstand or wear it daily. Black obsidian absorbs negative energy, while Pixiu works to attract wealth and opportunity — making it the perfect feng shui companion for your bedroom and beyond.
